The launch of voco Auckland City Centre signifies the IHG brand’s entry to the country.

This brand new, state-of-the-art hotel showcasing voco’s signature style places guests at the centre of the city.

Entry to New Zealand

Together, Pro-invest Hotels and IHG Hotels & Resorts have launched voco Auckland City Centre at the heart of the metropolis known as the City of Sails.

The 201-key hotel is a part of a dual-tower development also home to Holiday Inn Express Auckland City Centre, which is opening later this month.

Richards Stanisich designed the accommodation to provide a tranquil space distinguished by a palette of deep blues and charcoal greys paired with warm timber tones, brass accents, splashes of yellow and unique artworks.

On the opening, Fraser McKenzie, area general manager of Pro-invest Hotels in New Zealand, commented: “As one of the most highly anticipated hotel openings of the year, the launch of voco Auckland City Centre marks an exciting period of growth for the voco brand as we see an influx of travellers returning to New Zealand.”

“A stay at voco Auckland City Centre is all about indulgent accommodation with a refreshing twist and we’re thrilled to finally be able to share the fun, unique hallmarks of this property with our guests.”

Shantha de Silva, chief operating officer of Pro-invest Hotels, added: “We’re thrilled to be opening the first voco property in New Zealand and believe it’s a positive sign of the travel industry regaining momentum. It also highlights Pro-invest Hotel’s significant growth with several new hotels opening in the next two months.”

The voco experience

Each of the hotel’s 201 guest rooms and suites come with hand-picked artwork, sustainable bedding, smart in-room technology and a marble bathroom with eco-conscious rain shower and Antipodes amenities.

Guests can dine at the ground-floor, all-day Italian trattoria, Mozzarella & Co, serving breakfast in the morning followed by artisan pizza and pasta for lunch and dinner. What’s set to become New Zealand’s highest rooftop bar, Bar Albert, is on track to opening in June.

The hotel’s voco hosts will attend to every guest’s need, crafting welcome treats providing a taste of the locale and introducing them to the area. The hotel’s bars, lounges and other community spaces provide opportunities for interaction throughout the day.

Also catering for business travellers, the hotel hosts conferences, meetings and events in five meeting rooms as well as Bar Albert and Mozzarella & Co.

Operated with sustainability in mind, the hotel is now aiming to achieve a Level 3/Level 4 Green Engage certificate by implementing eco-initiatives such as using recycled materials, filtered drinking water and refillable amenities that reduce plastic waste.
